No weekend GO trains as track replacement starts

There will be no train service on the Lake Shore East Corridor from tonight until Monday as operator Metrolinx has scheduled some track replacements.

“To support State of Good Repair projects, crews will be proceeding with the replacement of tracks at Henry Street along the GO subdivision West of Henry Street in Whitby,” said a Metrolinx announcement.

It said crews will be proceeding with track replacement works on the GO subdivision West of Henry Street. Works will include removing and replacing the North and South Mainline Tracks between Crossovers #1 and #5 which have reached the end of their service life.

Crews will be operating within the Metrolinx right of way and will be on site between Friday, August 11 to Monday, August 14, 2023. Crews will be on site between the hours of 10 pm on Friday, August 11 and 5 am on Monday, August 14.

Metrolinx said there are no anticipated traffic or pedestrian impacts from the upcoming works.

Concrete Tie Replacement at Pickering GO

Metrolinx said crews will also be proceeding with the removal and replacement of Track 2 at Pickering GO Station as part of the Pickering GO Concrete Tie Replacement Program.

It said crews will be removing and replacing Track 2 at Pickering GO Station. Crews will be operating between Friday, August 11 to Monday, August 14, 2023.

Crews will be on site between the hours of 12 am on Saturday, August 12 and 5 am on Monday, August 14.

There are no anticipated traffic, pedestrian or transit impacts from the upcoming works, Metrolinx said.
