One of many boaters falls off, body found days later

Durham Police yesterday said the body of a 27-year-old male from Brampton was recovered from Lake Scugog on Monday evening.

On Saturday, August 5 at about 8:10 pm, members of North Division responded to a water rescue call in the area of Fralicks Beach Road, in Scugog.

A pontoon boat with several occupants had been out on Lake Scugog when a 27-year-old male had fallen into the water. The DRPS Marine Unit, with the assistance of York Regional Police Service Air2 and Marine Unit, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Scugog Fire, attended the area to search for the male, said a police statement.

Efforts to locate the male continued over the weekend. On Monday, August 8, the male’s body was recovered near Gilson’s Point in Lake Scugog.
