Police investigating two suspicious fires in Ajax

Durham Police said on Sunday, August 6, members of West Division responded to two fire calls in Ajax.

At about 4:25 am, in the area of Harwood Avenue and Chapman Drive, officers attended for a vehicle that had been on fire in a residential driveway.

The second call for fire was at approximately 5 am, where multiple businesses within a plaza were on fire in the area of Westney Road South and Bayly Street West.

The Ontario Fire Marshal attended and the fires have been deemed suspicious. It is unknown at this time if the two incidents are related, police said.

There were no reported injuries in either incident.

Police are looking for anyone who has information or video footage, including dash cam, to please come forward.
