Oshawa to replace fence along Thornton road

The City of Oshawa said it will replace the fence along Thornton Road between Castlegrove Avenue and 850 King Street West beginning Tuesday, August 8.

The project will include removal, reconstruction, tree pruning and site restoration and is expected to be complete by the end of September.

Community impacts

  • For public safety, the adjacent residential yards will be fenced during construction.
  • At various times during the project, heavy equipment will access the site from Thornton Road, which may result in increased noise levels.
  • Regular work hours will take place between 7 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • The west sidewalk from Castlegrove Avenue to the entrance of 850 King Street West will be closed for the duration of the project.

Community members are advised that inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances may impact the work schedule. The city said it recognizes that the work may be disruptive at times and will make every effort to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible. Drivers are asked to exercise caution for the safety of pedestrians, cyclists, and work crews.
