With freezing temperatures and roads, it comes as no surprise that yet another heavy truck skidded off the roadways and ended up in a ditch on Sunday.
This is the second such incident in Durham involving a tractor-trailer (see below). On the last day of September a truck driver escaped unharmed when his tractor-trailer sped off the road and overturned in the Municipality of Clarington.
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said on the last day of November a collision occurred in Oshawa at Highway 407 around 7:36 am.
A tractor-trailer jackknifed into a center ditch. The accident occurred at Highway 407 and Simcoe Street.
The vehicle was traveling eastbound. There were no other vehicles involved or injuries reported, OPP said.
Officers closed the highway to remove the vehicle and debris. Highway 407 has since been re-opened.

87 Tickets In Three Days
Durham North Division police officers wrapped up a three-day enforcement initiative at high-collision intersections in Scugog, Brock and Uxbridge.
Some 87 tickets were issued mainly for speeding, fail to stop at red lights and distracted driving, police said.
“As winter weather begins, please slow down and stay alert,” they added.
