Man in stolen car fires at the ground at gas station, flees

Durham police yesterday said there were no injuries reported after a shooting at a gas station in Whitby.

On Friday September 12 at about 9:10 pm, members of Central West Division responded to an armed person call at a gas station in the area of Victoria Street West and Montecorte Street.

A male arrived at the gas station in a sedan, exited the vehicle and fired a shot into the ground. Officers arrived on scene and located a shell casing.

The suspect and vehicle fled the area prior to police arrival. Investigators determined the vehicle was stolen from Ajax several hours prior to the incident.

No physical injuries have been reported.

Vehicle Recovered

On Monday, September 15  officers located the unoccupied stolen vehicle in the area of Valley Farm Road and Pickering Parkway in Pickering.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are appealing to any witnesses or anyone who may have video footage, including home surveillance or dashcam, to please contact police.
