Permanent speed bumps on Simpson Avenue in Clarington

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that permanent speed bumps were to be installed on Simpson Avenue in Bowmanville on September 17  in the following locations:

  • North of Prince Street
  • South of Jane Street
  • North of Southway Drive

Work was expected to be completed within the day, and access to all fronting properties was to be maintained.

These permanent speed bumps are part of a broader traffic calming strategy designed to enhance safety for all road users. Along with other measures already in place on Simpson Avenue – including a pedestrian crossover with a bump-out and seasonal flex signs – this project aims to reduce vehicle speeds, encourage safer driving habits, and respond to safety concerns raised by residents, said a municipal statement.
