Region of Durham yesterday announced that it will stop sending survey staff to farms in an effort to protect them from bird or avian flu.
“Due to the risk of spreading avian flu between poultry operations in Ontario, Durham Business Count surveyors will not be visiting farms in-person,” said a region statement. “Farm owners will be contacted via email and phone to complete the survey.”
Region of Durham has the Business Count program as agriculture plays a vital role in the region’s economy. Farm and agri-businesses surveys help the region learn more about the agriculture industry through the Business Count.
