Woman charged over hockey team’s missing money

Durham Police yesterday said a female is facing a fraud charge after funds for a North Durham Minor Hockey Team were misappropriated.

On Tuesday, August 20, members of the Financial Crimes Unit (FCU) concluded an investigation into the fraudulent spending of funds, during the 2023-2024 hockey season, for the North Durham Minor Hockey Association Team.

The suspect, who is the team manager, embezzled funds that were intended to be used for team expenses during the season. The suspect was taken into custody without incident, said a police statement.

The woman, age 42 from Port Perry is charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Police are appealing for any potential victims related to this investigation to come forward, as investigators believe there may be additional victims.
