Blue Box collection changes in Oshawa and Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham has notified Oshawa and Whitby residents of changes to upcoming curbside blue box collection due to the Victoria Day long weekend.

  • When: May 23 to 28.
  • Where: City of Oshawa and Town of Whitby residents will temporarily have their blue box collection moved to the following day. Residents with collection scheduled for Monday, May 23 will temporarily have their collection moved to Tuesday, May 24. This shift will continue throughout the week, ending with Friday, May 27 collection being moved to Saturday, May 28.
  • Why: These changes are taking place in observance of Victoria Day.

Residents are reminded to have blue box materials at the curb by 7 am on the day of collection. Garbage and green bin collection for Oshawa and Whitby residents is the responsibility of the individual municipalities, not the Region of Durham. Residents are asked to check their waste calendars or contact their local area municipality regarding the collection of these items.
