16-year old cyclist dead after tractor-trailer crash

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday said officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex at Wentworth and Oxford Street in Oshawa.

Ambulance was on scene for an injured party, said a tweet adding that the DRPS_K9 unit arrived at the scene.

“One male is being transported to Sunnybrook with a serious injury,” it added.

Struck Cyclist Dies

Police are investigating after a 16-year-old male was struck and killed by a tractor trailer in Oshawa.

On Thursday, May 19, 2022, at approximately 7:20 pm, members from Central East Division responded to a report of a cyclist being struck by a tractor trailer at the intersection of Simcoe Street South and Wentworth Street West, Oshawa. The 16-year-old cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the transport truck remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers, said a police statement

Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours while evidence was collected. The investigation is ongoing.
