Have dash-cam footage on man found shot dead in car?

Durham Police are investigating a suspicious death after finding a deceased male in a vehicle on Taunton Road in Pickering.

On Thursday, May 19 at noon, members of West Division responded to a single motor vehicle collision involving a grey four-door Honda at Taunton Road and Concession Road 4 in Pickering. Officers at the scene indicated there was evidence of gunshot wounds to the single male occupant who was pronounced dead at the scene, said a statement.

Further information on the identity of the victim will be provided once a post-mortem examination is conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services, it added.

Investigators from Major Crimes Homicide Unit assisted by Collision Investigation Unit, are investigating this incident.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses, specifically drivers with dash-cam video between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, anywhere near the area of Brock Road and Taunton Road to contact them.

Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation is asked to call Det. French of the Major Crimes – Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520. ext. 5421.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) officers shut down the area for several hours. Taunton Rd in Pickering was closed from Brock Road to Burkholder/Sideline 22 for an extended period. It was closed in both directions from Peter Matthews Drive to Brock Road.

Ornge was notified and had arrived on the scene. Investigation is on going.
