Borehole work at Bowmanville train station to end today

Borehole construction works on GO Train’s Bowmanville Extension Project, is scheduled to be completed today.

It was to start on December 19 at Metrolinx’s lands at Aspen Springs Drive and Bowmanville Avenue, Clarington.

“As part of investigative environmental works, crews will be drilling boreholes to complete groundwater and soil sampling… The investigation activities will inform future station improvement works,” said a Metrolinx online newsletter released yesterday.

Borehole drilling is expected to be complete by December 22, it said, while pointing out that above information was as of December 7 schedule.

Work is expected to take place Monday to Friday within the hours of 8:30 am. to 6:30 pm. Work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

Metrolinx said:

  • Residents should expect some noise, vibration, dust, and site lighting. Work crews will take reasonable precautions to minimize disturbances to residents.
  • Crews will use a truck mounted drill rig to perform the investigation works.
  • Customers and residents may experience some noise and vibration from construction vehicles and equipment.
  • Crews will drill one borehole at a time, the work zone will be safely delineated.

Metrolinx said there will be no impacts to public transit modes, traffic, or pedestrians during this work.
