60-zone: This driver later needed a ride home…

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday said officers caught a driver doing 163kmh in a posted 60-zone, just out of a 50 km/hr zone.

This driver (above) was stopped by RIDE, and then needed a ride home as his vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

The motorist also got a 30-day licence suspension and a collection of charges for this driver up in the Township of Scugog, said the police.

DRPS Traffic Services conducted RIDE on Island Road.

“We are pleased to announce no violations during our time here. Thank you to the citizens and visitors of this beautiful community for driving sober,” said police.

Accidents in Oshawa and Pickering

 

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday closed off Stevenson Road South in both directions between Cartier Avenue and Gibb Street in Oshawa.

The road was closed on the west side of Oshawa Shopping Centre for accident investigation. Thank you for avoiding the area, said the police.

It is reported that a wheelchair-bound person was injured in the crash.

DRPS also reported a closure of Kingston Road in both directions from Steeple Hl to Rosebank Road in the City of Pickering.
