You have till January 24 to apply for police chief post

The Durham Regional Police Services Board (DRPSB) has announced that the search for the next Chief of Police has begun.

The new chief will replace Chief Todd Rollauer, who is retiring at the end of March 2023.

Candidates may make submissions until January 24, 2023.

“Choosing the Chief of Police is one of the board’s most critical responsibilities,” said Acting Board Chair, Garry Cubitt. “The board is eager to conduct a thorough, fair, and community-informed
selection process to identify the best candidate to lead the DRPS and ensure that we continue our tradition of policing excellence in Durham Region.”

Waterhouse Executive Search will be supporting the board in the recruitment process, said a board statement. The former Chief of the York Regional Police, Eric Jolliffe, and former Chief of the Winnipeg Police and Inspector General of Policing for Ontario, Devon Clunis, will also be providing advice and assistance to the board. The report on leadership qualities prepared by Environics Research, following extensive citizen, stakeholder and member consultations, will be a key reference tool as the board evaluates candidates and makes its selection, said the statement.
