Major police operation finds hurt woman, man held

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday mounted a major operation in Pickering which resulted in the discovery of a woman with life-threatening injuries.

One man was taken into custody, said a police tweet.

There is a large police presence in the area of Valley Farm Road and Dellbrook Avenue in Pickering for an on going investigation. Please avoid the area, said an earlier police advisory.

Later, police said they had one male in custody and will be clearing the area.

“One female has been transported to a Toronto-area trauma center with originally life-threatening injuries. However, she is now in serious but stable condition,” said the police.

It said further information to follow as it becomes available.

Yesterday, police also called for public assistance after a male driver was seen in Oshawa preventing a young woman, yelling for help, from leaving the car.
