Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) has time and again warned about the usage of cellphones while driving.
Some drivers listen, but apparently this one (top image) did not get the message – until he got hit with a $615 fine.
RIDE officers were along Bayly Street and Brock Road in the City of Pickering when one officer, while driving beside this motor vehicle, observed the driver looking down at his cell phone.
He got a $615 fine and demerit points, said the officer.
DRPS Traffic Services said its RIDE team conducted sobriety check point in Pickering and checked more than 300 vehicles.
One person lost their licence for a period of three days.
“We thank the overwhelming majority of citizens for driving sober!” said a police tweet.
But the DRPS Traffic Services message was clear: “Don’t drink and drive! We are everywhere including at the Town of Ajax,” said the police.
DRPS Traffic Services said this car (below) was stopped for fail to stop at red light.
Roadside investigation determined alcohol consumption by the driver and an ASD demand was made. Subsequently, an ALERT was registered. Three day roadside suspension.
