Getting high up the ladder doesn’t fool nosy Summit…

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) K-9 Unit paws were to the fore once again as no amount of hiding or trying to lose the scent could deter the canny nose.

The hero of the latest DRPS K9 exploits is police service dog (PSD) Summit, who was behind two spectacular recent arrests.

In the first instance, PC Dever, K9 Summit & Tactical Support officers teamed up to search and locate a lone perp who stole a vehicle and broke into a large building.

Summit was deployed and promptly located the perp hiding high on a ladder within the building.

The suspect was arrested without incident, said the police.

Earlier, DRPS K-9 Unit said PC Dever, K9 Summit and the DRPS West Division teamed up to track and locate an impaired driver who had crashed his vehicle and fled on foot.

After a challenging bush track, K9 Summit located the suspect attempting to conceal himself in dense brush.

He was taken into custody, added the police.
