Is Ajax proposing 0% future affordable housing in GO area?

The Town of Ajax is planning to establish Inclusionary Zoning provisions which include affordable housing unit set-aside rate (0%) requirements within the Ajax GO Transit area.

It also includes other provisions applicable to qualifying residential and mixed-use developments within the Ajax GO Protected Major Transit Station Area (PMTSA).

Ajax plans to transform the existing industrial area surrounding the GO Station into a new transit-oriented, mixed-use community. The long term vision is to provide community amenities such as schools, community centre facilities and open spaces.

The area to which the new policies would apply to, consist of the area identified as the Ajax GO PMTSA, as shown below.

The Town of Ajax wants to hear it’s residents thoughts on proposed “inclusionary zoning” policies. The Statutory Public meeting is being held on September 8, as a part of the  2026, Community Affairs and Planning Committee meeting. The meeting will be taking place at 1 pm. Residents, landowners, agencies, and stakeholders are invited.

This public meeting is being held virtually and will be live-streamed for public viewing at Online Meetings section on The Town of Ajax’s website.
