Brock Council has endorsed the MacLeod Park Concept Plan timeline, which is currently sitting at 10 years. It did not mention any investment projections.
The MacLeod Park Concept Plan was presented to council last October 14. Staff were directed to establish an internal committee to assist with the proposed development plan.
The park is touted as the recreational heart of Cannington in the Township of brock.
The projects included:
- Utility extension for future splash pad, washrooms, and lighting
- Multi-purpose sports field
- Basketball court
- Pickleball courts
- Accessible walking paths
- Walking trails
- Updated pedestrian bridge
- Parking lot reduction
- Plazas
- Entrance signage
- Pump track
- Dog park
- Washroom facilities and water fountain
- Baseball diamond lighting
- North park improvements (walking paths, tennis courts, benches, planting)
- Tree planting
- Plaza planting
- Pedestrian scale lighting
- Splash pad
- Parking lot revitalization
Below is a map of some of the coming improvements.

The pedestrian bridge has been restored and parks staff are planning on painting this summer. New signage has been ordered and will be installed upon delivery. The former skateboard area is being transformed into a basketball court and the current single basketball court is being investigated to become a pickleball court.
Due to Source Water Protection restrictions, a large area of MacLeod Park is impacted, including the dog park, which is not able to be developed in this space. Restrictions on fertilizer use may also have impacts on new and existing components of MacLeod Park including the Cannington Lawn Bowling facility.
The top priorities of the members of the internal committee were identified as:
- Walking and accessible paths
- Washroom building construction
- Pump Track
