The Municipality of Clarington is inviting you to celebrate the opening of Newcastle Community Park with family-friendly fun on June 1.
The festivities will take place from 3 to 6 pm, said a municipal statement.
The $3.5 million community park features new tennis and pickleball courts, a tournament-grade clay hardball diamond, a skateboard park, paved walkways, and a shade structure. Newcastle Community Park is located on the west side of Diane Hamre Recreation Complex,1780 Rudell Road, Newcastle.
Events that will take place include:
- Ceremonial first pitch at the ball diamond at 4 pm
- Meet the mayor and councillors
- Indoor and outdoor family-friendly games and fitness activities
- Learn to play pickleball
- Inflatables
- Face painting
- Crafts and friendship bracelet-making
- Free public swimming from 3:30 to 5:30 pm
- Visit with Clarington Emergency and Fire Services
- Freezies
- A visit from the KX96 Cruiser
- Prizes and giveaways and more
