Downtown fight ends with life-threatening injuries

Durham Police are looking for a male suspect who stabbed another male in Downtown Oshawa.

On Tuesday, May 28 at around 11 am, members of Central East Division responded to a stabbing incident in the area of Simcoe Street South and John Street West.

A fight was reported outside of a local business near Memorial Park. Officers located a male who had been stabbed. Life saving measures were performed and the victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, said a police report.

The area was closed for several hours as investigators established a crime scene and searched for suspects and witnesses.

The victim’s status has since been upgraded to stable with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

In custody for possession of firearm

A male has been arrested after police located a firearm in his possession in Oshawa.

On Sunday, May 26 at about 8 pm, members of Central East Division responded to a check on well being call in the area of Ritson Road South and Valley Drive.

An unknown male was acting erratically and dangerously on a live roadway. The male agreed to have paramedics transport him to a local areal hospital for medical concerns. For the safety of the paramedics and officers involved, the male and his property were searched. A loaded firearm with a tampered serial number was located in the male’s bag. The male was subsequently taken into custody without incident, police said.

The suspect, age 31 from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
