Couple steal car and end up crashing it multiple times

Durham Police yesterday said a male and female have been arrested after causing multiple collisions in a stolen vehicle in Oshawa.

On Friday, May 24 at about 3:20 pm, members of Central East Division responded to numerous impaired driving calls in the area of Ritson Road North and King Street East.

A silver Toyota sedan, occupied by a male and female, struck multiple vehicles before fleeing the area, said a police report.

At around 4 pm, East Division officers responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the area of Harmony Road North and Taunton Road East. A male and female, matching the description of the occupants from the collisions, parked a severely damaged vehicle in a parking lot and fled the area on foot.

Investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen from Waterloo. Officers, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, searched the area and located the suspects a short distance away hiding in bushes. Both suspects were taken into custody without incident, police said.

Both parties were charged and released on an undertaking. Names and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Cst. Lahnalampi of East Division at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 2111.
