The City of Oshawa yesterday announced this year’s Community Legend Award recipient, who is being celebrated for their significant contributions to the community.
The Community Legend Award recognizes individuals and organizations whose everyday actions make a positive impact on Oshawa.
Selected by Oshawa City Council based on nominations from the community, Joanne Kozaroff, has been named the recipient of this year’s Community Legend Award in recognition of her transformative impact with her efforts to grow and strengthen girls’ hockey, said a city statement.
Joanne actively contributes to empowering young girls to pursue their passion for hockey. Joanne’s ability to foster the strengths of each child, build confidence in girls, and contribute to the growth of girls’ hockey aligns seamlessly with the spirit of the Oshawa Community Legend Award, it added.
“We are thrilled to recognize Coach Kozaroff for her ongoing commitment to empower and develop the future of her players and women’s hockey,” said Mayor Dan Carter. “Congratulations on receiving the Community Legend Award and for your innovative approaches to support our community members and enhance our City.”
