Here’s how to tell a fake Canadian passport…

Durham Police yesterday said a male has been charged after using fraudulent documents at a bank in Oshawa.

On Tuesday, May 28 at about 12:45 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a fraud in progress call at the TD Bank located at 22 Stevenson Road South.

A male attempted to open a bank account using a fraudulent passport and social insurance card. Officers attended the bank and confirmed the documents were fraudulent. The documents were seized and the suspect was taken into custody without incident, said a police report.

The suspect, age 27 from Toronto, was charged. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Police released an image (above) showing points of differences between the fake and genuine Canadian passports.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Kane of the Financial Crimes Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5371.

Editor’s Note: Durham Post does not name or identify the accused as:
