The City of Oshawa is thanking residents and facility users for their patience as work continues on the South Oshawa Community Centre Pool reconstruction project.
According to the city, exterior excavation work is ongoing to upgrade the foundation drainage system. Temporary sidewalk closures remain in place to protect public safety during this stage of construction.
Inside the facility, work has begun in the pool area, including the installation of engineered platforms and scaffolding to allow access improvements to the fire suppression system. Modifications to the mechanical and fire suppression systems are also part of the project.
Fencing and safety signage remain in place around the north, south, and west sides of the building for the duration of construction. Sidewalks along Cedar Street are closed, with alternate routes provided. Temporary closures in other parts of the facility may occur as work progresses, and visitors may experience increased noise during certain construction activities.
The pool will remain closed until the project is complete. Directional signage has been posted to help visitors navigate the area safely.
Oshawa says every effort is being made to minimize disruption and complete the work efficiently. Updates are available at oshawa.ca/SouthOshawaPool.
