Clarington votes to lower speed limits in school zones

The Municipality of Clarington has announced that the council has voted to lower the speed limit to 30kmh in school zones throughout Clarington.

The new speed limit will take effect early 2024 when updated signs are installed.

The school zone speed reduction is the first step in a larger plan to address traffic concerns across the community, said a municipal statement.

Work is underway on a traffic calming policy tailored specifically for the Clarington community, which will provide options to deal with traffic issues. The traffic calming policy will come to Clarington Council for consideration at a future meeting, it said.
