Several hours of freezing rain with 1 to 5 mm of accretion or build up is possible throughout Tuesday January 6 according to Environment Canada for the Region of Durham.
Roads and walkways may become icy and slippery. Icy surfaces could be difficult to detect, it said. Local utility outages are possible. Driver and pedestrians are urged to take caution.
Freezing rain may be mixed with snow or ice pellets at times, Environment Canada said.
The weather is expected to change over to all snow as an area of low pressure moves through the region.
