Covid Update: New cases fall down 86

Durham Health yesterday posted 86 new Covid-19 cases for May 24, taking the region’s tally to 24,268 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll now stands at 360, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 22,759, There are 1,149 active covid cases. Fifty-six cases are hospitalized with 22 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 1,093 people in home isolation.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • 8 cases in Pickering
  • 25 in Ajax
  • 12 in Whitby
  • 26 in Oshawa
  • 11 in Clarington
  • 3 in Uxbridge
  • none in Scugog
  • none in Brock

Covid Deaths: 359

Of the 115 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 62 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 57 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 60 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
22 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
25 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
2 deaths have been reported in Brock
