16-year old stabbed during Whitby street robbery

A 16-year-old male was stabbed during a street level robbery in Whitby on Friday evening.

On Friday, May 21, 2021, at approximately 7:35 p.m., members from Central West Division responded to a street level robbery near a basketball court in the area of Manning Drive and Ribblesdale Drive. Officers arrived on scene and located the victim with stab wounds. He had been skateboarding in the area when he was confronted by an unknown individual who stabbed him and stole his backpack. He was provided medical treatment by Durham Paramedic Services and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The K-9 Unit assisted in a search of the area and the suspect was located at a nearby residence and taken into custody.

A 17-year-old female of Whitby is charged with Robbery With an Offensive Weapon; Aggravated Assault; Possession of a Weapon for Committing Offence and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. She was held for a bail hearing.
