November death now deemed a murder: DRPS

Durham Police investigators have deemed the suspicious death from November 2020 a homicide.

On Friday, November 13, 2020 at approximately 12:40 a.m., North Division officers were called to a residence on Regional Road 13 near Concession Road 7 in Uxbridge Township. Durham Paramedics notified police after Roberta Dickens, a 63-year-old female, was located deceased in the basement of her residence. During the investigation, a 32-year-old male, tenant of the deceased, was identified as the primary suspect and through exhaustive forensic evidence, the investigators determined he was responsible for causing the death of Mrs. Dickens. Days before investigators were set to arrest the suspect, the 32-year-old male was found deceased in an unrelated incident in Toronto.

This is the 9th homicide of 2020.
