Woman forces police closure of Oshawa street

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday closed off a residential street in Oshawa for an “active police” investigation.

Officers from DRPS East Division are on scene at a residence near King Street and Athabasca in Oshawa. This is an active police investigation with more info to follow. There are no immediate public safety concerns, said a police tweet.

After a few hours a 57-year-old female was taken into custody without incident, police said.

She faces numerous charges including point firearm x3 and threaten death x 3. More info will follow in the a.m. with further details. Thanks for your patience and understanding in that area.

Shots fired at apartment building

Police are investigating after multiple shots were fired at an apartment building in Oshawa on Friday morning. No injuries were reported.

On Friday, May 21, 2021, at approximately 3 a.m., members from Central West Division were dispatched to the area of Stevenson Road and Cartier Avenue for the sound of gunshots. Officers attended the area but could not locate any victims or evidence of gunfire.

At approximately 7:30 p.m., members from Central West Division were called to an apartment building on Stevenson Street South for the report of damage caused by bullets. The apartment was entered and there were no victims located.

A vehicle was observed in the area shortly before the time of the shooting. The vehicle travelled southbound on Stevenson Road, westbound on Cartier Avenue and northbound on Durham Street. The vehicle is described as a large red passenger vehicle.

Traffic stop leads to drugs seizure

On May 24, 2021 at 9:38 pm near Simcoe Street S/Ast Street in Oshawa members of DRPS conducted a traffic stop of a U-Haul. The occupants, a 30 year-old female, and a 59 year-old male were arrested  for possession of a controlled drug/substance for the purpose of trafficking. Police seized drugs (crystal meth, fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine) and a quantity of stolen property.

The 30 year-old female faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking x3; possession of prohibited weapon x2; and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000. The 59 year old male faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking x3.  They were both released on an Undertaking.
