Covid Update: Total Durham cases cross 23,000

Durham Health yesterday posted 134 new Covid-19 cases for May 13, taking the region’s tally to 23,080 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

Durham’s overall death toll stands at 349, with 218 of them occurring in LTCs.

Recoveries stand at 21,591. There are 1,138 active covid cases. Seventy-four cases are hospitalized with 25 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 1,064 people in home isolation.

More than 271,000 vaccine doses have been administered so far.

Durham Health reported the highest number of covid cases so far in Ajax.

There were:

  • 24 cases in Pickering
  • 23 in Ajax
  • 31 in Whitby
  • 39 in Oshawa
  • 11 in Clarington
  • 3 in Uxbridge
  • 4 in Scugog
  • 2 in Brock

Covid Deaths: 349

Of the 111 reported deaths in Pickering, 87 were in LTC
Of the 58 reported deaths in Ajax, 33 were in LTC
Of the 56 reported deaths in Whitby, 30 in LTC
Of the 58 reported deaths in Oshawa, 34 were in LTC
22 deaths were reported in Clarington [none in LTC]
25 deaths were reported in Uxbridge, 20 in LTC
17 deaths have been reported in Scugog, 14 in LTC
2 deaths have been reported in Brock
