Crossing road centre line led to collision and serious injury

A 21-year-old female from Whitby was seriously injured after a head-on collision in Scugog.

On Wednesday, January 29 at about 8:55 am, officers say they responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Simcoe Street north of Coates Road, in Port Perry. A black Honda Civic was northbound on Simcoe Street when it crossed the center line of the roadway and collided with an oncoming Dodge pickup.

Police say that the driver of the Honda was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Dodge was transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries.

Members of the Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
