Downtown Bowmanville getting upgraded parking meters

The Municipality of Clarington revealed that during the first few weeks of February, new on-street parking meters will be installed in downtown Bowmanville.

These machines will provide multiple payment options for drivers.

Residents and visitors will be able to use cash, debit, credit, or the HotSpot app to pay for parking. Contactless payments will also be available with tap functionality.

Previously, only coins or credit card payments made through the HotSpot app were accepted.

According to the municipality, minimal to no disruptions to pedestrian traffic are anticipated during the installation process. Additional work will take place this spring to straighten poles and add new pole covers.

Parking hours and fees remain unchanged, with paid on-street parking effective from 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday, for a maximum of two hours.

Clarington officials stated that this project is part of Clarington’s 2024-27 Strategic Plan to aimed at using technology to modernize municipal services.
