Dangerous driver couldn’t hide self, vehicle in his garage

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is calling on witnesses to help in the investigation of a suspect accused of dangerous driving.

On June 18th, an officer was in the area of South Courtice Arena when he attempted a traffic stop. The male driver did not stop for police and fled into a busy subdivision. The officers discontinued pursuit of vehicle.

The vehicle was being driven in a dangerous manner and several residents were calling 911 to report the driver, said the police.

One caller advised that the subject had pulled the vehicle into his garage and closed the garage door.

Officers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.

A 34 year old male from Clarington is charged with flee from police, dangerous operation of a conveyance, and fail to comply with an undertaking.

DRPS said it appreciates the assistance of concerned citizens, as this was a successful conclusion.
