DDSB Trustee ‘free’ after furore over pronoun tweet

The Durham District School Board  (DDSB) Trustee, who has been in conflict with the board over its human rights policy since January, has reportedly resigned.

A recent tweet by Linda Stone, Trustee from Oshawa, over the use of pronouns in the classroom, caused a furore on social media and earned her a charge of transphobic.

In a tweet on Friday, she had hinted at a major announcement on Monday (yesterday).

Yesterday, she tweeted that she is “finally free” and promised to ask “the tough questions that refuses [to] be discussed in education”.

On May 15 (Sunday), she had tweeted: “I stand with all the other trustees who are being targeted and bullied for having diverse views and opinions. And while I will no longer be with you in the trenches and will always back you and be here for you.”

Her name and position were still on the DDSB website as of last night.

There was no announcement from DDSB.
