Do you know how they deliver in one day, police asks

It was an eventful day for the Traffic Services unit of the Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS). With monitoring across Durham, traffic violations were reported from Brock, Scugog and Clarington.

The highest rate of speed clocked yesterday in Durham was 154kmh in an 80-zone.

Driver caught going 154kmh in the Township of Brock, said a DRPS Traffic Services tweet.

The driver was charged with stunt driving, speeding, careless driving, and driving under a separate traffic act suspension.

DRPS Traffic Services said the second highest rate of speed caught yesterday was 152kmh  in the Township of Scugog.

This driver (below) was caught travelling at a marked departure from the lawful rate of speed, said a tweet.

It said the driver’s licence was seized and suspended. The car was impounded for 14 days.

Next on the list was a rhetorical question asked by DRPS Traffic Services.

“Ever wonder how they do that one-day delivery?,” it said after catching a delivery van doing 131kmh in an 80-zone. (see main image).

“This is the wrong way. This delivery driver learned the hard way when he was stopped for stunt driving (131kmh in a posted 80kmh zone) in Scugog.

Another driver was caught in Scugog doing 23kmh above the speed limit (see below).

It is not that DRPS Traffic Services did not warn drivers in the township. “We are travelling northbound on Highway 7/12 looking for aggressive driving!” said an early tweet.

Lost in conversation

But the driver who took the cake in Scugog yesterday was the one who appeared not to notice the speed the car was travelling at.

“Lost in conversation is not a reasonable excuse for speeding. If you have cruise control then utilize it!” said DRPS Traffic Services.

Meanwhile, DRPS East Division reported a speeding motorcyclist in Clarington.

Taunton Road and Main Street, Orono is a road construction zone with workers present – slow down, it said.

The motorcyclist was caught doing 54kmh over, and got a 30-day suspension, 14-day impound, six demerit points and court time.

DRPS Central West Division was active too conducting speed enforcement at various locations in Central West Division, including on Thornton Road North in Oshawa (below) – an area of regular speeding complaints.

However, it did not report any violations.
