This driver was fined to ensure safety of other motorists

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) made an example of this driver to drive home an important road safety message – for the safety of other motorists.

On January 30, DRPS East Division officers noticed this vehicle (top image) on Courtice Road and Regional Highway 2 in Courtice.

It had no mudguards. The driver was fined $110, police said.

“If you have tires that extend past wheel wells, you have to have either mudguards or fender guards. This will help ensure the safety of broken windshields for other motorists,” police pointed out.

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) is reminding the public that to have fun off-roading in the trails of our scenic region, they require a permit.

“DYK – In order to be on the trails, you need a permit! Only certain off road vehicles are permitted on the trails of the Ganny [Ganaraska Forest], and you must have a current, valid permit, it said.
