Don’t confuse speedometer with thermometer, says police

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday pointed out that people often confuse speedometer with thermometer.

“Just because one goes up does not mean the other must,” they said after a driver was clocked doing double the speed limit in yesterday’s spring-like weather.

North Division officers said: “We noticed that when it’s a nice day outside and the temperatures rise, so do speeds.”

They charged several drivers with speeding in Uxbridge.

One G2 driver (top image) was stopped by police speeding 161 kmh in an 80 kmh zone in Scugog.

“That’s double or 81 kmh above the speed limit,” officers said while laying numerous charges, including stunt driving, a 30-day driving licence suspension and a 14-day vehicle impound.

“Please obey the speed limit,” they added.
