Driver caught doing almost double the speed limit

It was another day of enforcement for the Durham Police Traffic Service.

Just after 8am yesterday, an officer from Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) East Division stopped a driver doing almost double the speed limit.

The person was clocked at 118kmh in a posted 60-zone. The incident happened in Clarington at Concession Road 7 near Enfield Road.

The driver got the license suspended for 30 days and a 14-day motor vehicle impoundment.

Police also reported a collision in Brock, which forced a road closure for the investigation to be completed.

Regional Road 48, between Highway 12 and Concession Road 10, in Brock was temporarily closed for a collision investigation.

Police advised residents and other road users to make alternate travel arrangements.

DRPS reported a driver with cannabis was caught for stunt driving.

The incident happened on Highway 7 just East of the Hamlet of Green River.

This rental SUV (below) was stopped for stunt driving and during the roadside investigation cannabis/marihuana was discovered.

The driver got to keep his driver licence and the rental car, but left with hefty fines, police said.
