Three teens assault man, steal pick-up truck from scrap yard

Durham Police officers arrested three youths after they stole a pick-up truck from a scrap metal yard in Whitby Monday evening.

On July 11 at about 6:50 pm, members of Central West Division responded to a theft of motor vehicle call on Taunton Road east of Garrard Road. A citizen called 911 after observing three males stealing one of their company vehicles. The teens were confronted by the victim, said the police.

The male victim was assaulted by the fleeing males. Two of the teens were arrested near the scene and a third fled on foot. K-9 Unit assisted but the suspect was able to get away. The victim suffered minor injuries.

The third teen was arrested shortly after and charged.

A 18-year-old male and two 15-year-old males were charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Assault.

They were released on Undertakings.
