Driver had three kids plus a toddler unsecured in car

DRPS Traffic Services yesterday reported that a motorist has been stopped in Whitby for driving with children without seatbelts on in the car.

“No Excuse! This driver [below] passed one of our officers with two small children sharing a rear seat with no seatbelt,” said a police tweet.

“Traffic stop revealed three kids and one toddler [were] NOT secured within the van,” it said.

Over six serious Highway Traffic Act charges were laid, and all children secured before the driver was allowed to leave, police said.

Enforcement continued across the region with DRPS Traffic Services officers responding to community complaints of speeding in Raglan area of Oshawa.

“… slow down, obey the limits and drive safe,” it advised.

North Division Traffic conducted radar along Reg Rd 57 at Hiawatha Blvd in Caesarea. “Please obey the speed limit,” said an advisory.

Meanwhile, the Region of Durham said when driving in construction zones or areas where workers are present, please pay attention to signs.

“Slow down, increase your following distance and drive with caution,” it said.
