DRT services continue as usual after tentative workers pact

Durham Region Transit (DRT) has confirmed that a tentative agreement has been reached with Unifor Local 222, the union representing operators, maintenance staff, customer service representatives, and other key personnel.

The agreement is subject to ratification by Unifor Local 222 members. A vote is scheduled to take place soon. If union members approve the agreement, it will then be submitted to the Durham Regional Transit Commission for final approval.

As a result of the tentative deal, there will be no disruption to DRT services. Regularly scheduled service will continue across all eight municipalities in Durham Region, and a previously planned contingency service change for the evening of Friday, June 6, had been cancelled.

Durham Region officials say they will provide further updates following the ratification process.
