Drunk driver ends up in ditch, loses licence for 90 days

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reported that an impaired driver found himself in a ditch Saturday evening.

Officers from DRPS North Division arrested the impaired driver who ended up in the ditch over the weekend. Please don’t drink and drive, said a police tweet.

An accompanying statement said officers received a call at around 9:35 pm about a crashed black SUV in a ditch near Beaverton.

Officers found the driver to be showing signs of intoxication and he was brought to the North Division HQ to provide breath samples.

A 38-year old man from Alberta has been charged with impaired operation. His vehicle has been impounded and his licence suspended for 90 days.

There were no injuries, police said.
