The Region of Durham announced that water disruptions in Ajax are scheduled to end by about 8am today (Tuesday, May 12th).
Water supply was interrupted from 5pm yesterday (May 11) at Regional Highway 2, from Harwood Avenue to Trott Lane.
A final water connection was required to service a new watermain along Kingston Road, and is part of the construction for the second segment of Durham-Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (DSBRT).
To safely complete the work, a temporary shutdown of the water supply system is required. Impacted residents and businesses will be notified directly, said the region.
“Crews will work to restore service as quickly as possible. When water is reinstated, it is important to turn on a cold water tap only and let it run for approximately five minutes. This will allow any sediment to be cleared that might have accumulated in your water service. This will also prevent any sediment from entering the hot water system,” it added.
There was a water outage south of Kingston Road East (Regional Highway 2) to Mandrake Street, between Harwood Road and Salem Road, in Ajax on May 8. The region said construction activity in the area affected the water supply.
