Durham Covid Update: Total case tally crosses 61,000

Durham Health yesterday added 247 new Covid-19 cases from May 5 to May 8, taking the region’s tally to 61,143 since the count began on February 29, 2020.

The total case count had stood at 50,241 in January, 53,117 in February and 56,061 in March. With the new structure of data published over a period of days, it is not confirmed how many total cases of covid were reported in April 2022.

Durham Health has posted the overall death toll at 477, with five fatalities added in May so far.

March toll in the region stood at seven. Twenty-three people died from covid in February, and 31 in January. There were 22 covid deaths reported for last month (April).
