Crime Briefs: Man stabbed, bomb threat, high speed chase…

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) last night reported that a man had been stabbed in Ajax, and was in serious condition.

“Police are in the area of Harwood Avenue South and Kings Crescent in Ajax for a stabbing,” said a police alert.

“One male has been transported to a Toronto-area hospital with serious injuries. There is no suspect information at this time. Police remain on scene and are continuing to investigate,” it added.

No further details were released till late last night.

No evidence of bomb after threat

DRPS said that there was no evidence of a bomb after a threat was received on Monday morning at Eastdale CVI, a high school in Oshawa.

“With the assistance of TPS K9, the building has been cleared. Police have yet to find any evidence suggesting the threat is credible. This incident remains under investigation,” said the police.

Earlier, police alerted parents about the threat. “This morning, EastdaleCVI received a threat toward the school. We are working to ensure the safety of all staff and students. The school is asking that you do not send your children as the school will remain closed while the investigation takes please. Further info to follow.”

Durham District School Board (DDSB) also alerted parents. “This morning, we received a threat at Eastdale CVI. We are working with DRPS to manage the situation. We have made the decision to close the school to give emergency services time to investigate. Please do not send your children to school. Further updates will be provided.”

$100,000 property recovered from stolen trailers

Police said two stolen trailers containing a high value of goods have been located in Clarington following a search warrant.

On Sunday, December 10, members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch executed a search warrant for an ongoing investigation, at a property in the area of King Lane and Millstream Lane in Clarington.

A trailer that had been stolen from a business in Oshawa was GPS locating in this area. A second trailer that had been stolen from a church in Ajax was also located on the property. Between the contents of both stolen trailers, more than $100,000 in property was recovered, police said.

High speed chase discontinued

Police said a male has been arrested for vehicle theft following a pursuit in Oshawa.

On Monday, December 11, at approximately 1:10 am, members of Central West Division responded to a stolen vehicle in progress call in the area of Simcoe Street North and Windfields Farm Drive West in Oshawa.

A white Jeep Wrangler was reported being stolen, while a dark-coloured Audi was standing by. Both vehicles fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Officers located both vehicles fleeing toward Highway 407. Police cruisers blocked the Audi from driving further, and the driver was taken into custody without incident. The Jeep was observed entering westbound Highway 407. A pursuit of the Jeep was initiated; however, it was discontinued in the interest of public safety. The Jeep was GPS tracked to an area in Scarborough where it was recovered unoccupied.

One male, age 23 from Pickering wass charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
