Durham Crime: Fake currency duo + taser used after stabbing

Durham Police said two males are facing charges for producing and using counterfeit Canadian bills at multiple businesses across Durham Region.

Police have concerns both accused have used their counterfeit currency at other businesses who have not come forward.

On Wednesday, June 12, members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch arrested two males following an investigation into counterfeit currency.

The two suspects purchased numerous items at multiple businesses across Durham Region using counterfeit Canadian bills that they produced, said a police report.

One suspect, age 47 from Toronto, and another,  age 67 of no fixed address, were charged. The first was held for a bail hearing. while the second was released on an undertaking. Names, images and further details available at www.drps.ca.

Taser used in arrest of two after stabbing

Durham Police said a male and female are facing charges after a man was stabbed in Oshawa.

On Friday, June 14 at about 5 pm, members of Central East Division responded to a stabbing incident in the area of Centre Street South and Bagot Street.

Officers located a male suffering from a stab wound. Investigation revealed the victim had been involved in an altercation with a male and female, when the suspect male pulled out an edged weapon, stabbing the victim, said a police report.

It said officers were able to disarm the suspect utilizing a Conducted Energy Weapon (taser) to incapacitate him. Officers seized the weapon from the suspect, before taking him into custody. During the arrest of the suspect, the female attempted to interfere and was also taken into custody.

The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect and female did not sustain any physical injuries.

The male suspect: age 36 from Oshawa was charged and held for a bail hearing, while the female, age 42 from Oshawa wass also charged and released on an undertaking. Name and further details available at www.drps.ca.
