Durham distracted driving, speeding and collision

Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) yesterday reported an average for ticketing at 30kmh over the speed limit.

During a campaign to monitor traffic, officers from DRPS East Division clocked one driver doing  81kmh in a 50-zone on Raglan Road west of Simcoe.

In another instance, officers caught a driver doing 104kmh in a 70-zone. “Slow down!” said a DRPS tweet.

Near Eastdale in a Community Safety Zone, officers observed a driver having a conversation on the phone.

“Talking on your cell phone while driving is a $615 ticket, court time & 3-6 demerit points upon conviction. Is it worth it?” said another DRPS East Division tweet.

Road closed after crash

Meanwhile, DRPS yesterday closed King Street West at Thornton Road in Oshawa through to Dundas Street East at Garrard Road in Whitby in both directions.

This was for a collision investigation. Thank you for avoiding the area, said a DRPS tweet.
